Which Distance+ course is right for me?

Our TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Distance+ course has been an absolute hit amongst soon-to-be trainers and assessors around Australia and beyond!

As leaders in the TAE field we are committed to providing course options to suit the needs of individuals at all experience levels which is why our Distance+ course is available with either a six-month or 12-month enrolment option.

It can be tempting to enrol in the quickest and cheapest course available, however it is important that you familiarise yourself with the differences between the two enrolment duration options prior to finalising your enrolment with us.

12-month enrolment TAE40116 Distance+ course (recommended)

Our standard TAE40116 Distance+ course option comes with a 12-month course enrolment duration, and the option to extend by up to six months (18 months total) if required*.

We strongly recommend that anyone who is new to the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector enrols with a 12-month course duration.

The TAE40116 qualification is not your ordinary Certificate IV level course, and as industry leaders we understand that many students will underestimate the work required to complete this qualification. The TAE40116 is an extremely important course due to the responsibility that qualified trainers have to always deliver high-quality training and assessment to their students or team and the volume of learning requirements certainly reflect this.

If you, like the majority of our new TAE40116 students, have a life outside of study and are new to the industry you should be prepared to complete around one unit per month. This is why we always recommend our 12-month course duration to our new students.

Both of our Distance+ course enrolment durations are self-paced and you can certainly work through the course content as quickly or slowly over the course duration as you like, but it is crucial that when you choose a course duration that you consider your capabilities, lifestyle and family commitments.

Six-month enrolment TAE40116 Distance+ course (VET sector experience required)

Our six-month TAE40116 Distance+ course option is available for individuals who already have an understanding of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and also have some training experience. If you are new to the world of training and assessment we do not recommend our six-month course option for you.

Students who enrol in our six-month Distance+ course have the option to extend by up to six months (12 months total) if required*. No additional extensions will be granted.

Before enrolling in our TAE40116 six-month Distance+ course option please ensure you meet all of the following recommendations:

  • Have an understanding of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector
  • Have some past or current training experience for reference
  • Can attend the TAEASS402 Assess Competence workshop (or organise to complete this yourself) within the six-month window
  • Can dedicate significant time each week to your studies

If you do not meet all of these recommendations please enrol in our 12-month course duration option to complete your TAE40116 course. If you feel you do meet all of our recommendations, we request that you speak with one of our Course Advisors prior to enrolling to ensure this is the right option for you.

*Extension Opportunities
Our many years of experience in the industry have shown us that life often gets in the way of your plans, and the TAE40116 is no exception. Extensions of up to six months are available for both the six-month and 12-month enrolment duration Distance+ course options. If you require an extension is it important to note that additional fees will apply. Please CLICK HERE to view our fee schedule.

We strongly urge you to select the right course duration for your learning needs as students only have the ability to extend their course by up to six months. Once your course has been extended by six months there is no option to extend further, and a re-enrolment (at a reduced fee) will be required if you wish to continue.
