This online RPL kit is used as the first step in assessing candidates against the requirements of the BSB414 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety units of competency. 

What's RPL?
RPL stands for 'Recognition of Prior Learning' and is an assessment only process that lets people with substantial existing skills and knowledge demonstrate their competence without having to first be trained. There are many advantages in undertaking the RPL process with Plenty RPL:

Entry Requirements
It is important to have an understanding of the entry requirements included as part of the BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety Course course. Please take the time to carefully read the below information prior to completing our online eligibility application form.


Packaging rules - Total number of units is 10.
  • Five core units, plus
  • Five elective units, of which:
    • at least three must be from Group A below
    • the remaining two units may be selected as follows:
      • both may be selected from Group A, Group B or any currently endorsed Training Package qualification or accredited course at the same Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level
      • 1 may be selected from a Certificate III or Diploma, from any currently endorsed Training Package qualification or accredited course.

    Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.Elective units chosen must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment, not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification, and contribute to a valid vocational outcome for personnel in the VET sector working at this level.

      Do you have a current Manager or Supervisor who can complete a third-party declaration and attest to your experience in this area?(Required)

      Note there are specific questions also for each of the units where you may be asked to explain in more detail the relevant experience you have had with those requirements.

      Once we have received your completed RPL application we will review your relevant experience, the units you would be suitable to undertake via RPL and ensure your experience aligns with the packaging rules for this course.

      To attain the TAE50122 Diploma of Vocational Education & Training via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) you need to select nine elective units from the list below.

      You MUST complete the below five units as they are core units of the BSB41419.

      I can provide a third-party report from a manager/supervisor demonstrating my contributions to WHS risk management processes

      BSBWHS415 Contribute to implementing WHS management systems

      I have contributed to planning the implementation of a work health and safety management system (WHSMS) that incorporates return-to-work and injury management procedures, and other key relevant WHSMS elements
      I have contributed to implementing the WHSMS plan and reviewing its effectiveness
      These were within the last 3 years
      I can provide a third-party report from a manager/supervisor demonstrating my contribution to implementing WHS management systems

      BSBWHS416 Contribute to workplace incident response

      I can provide evidence of responding to at least two (2) different workplace incidents according to work health and safety (WHS) legislative and organisational requirements
      I have assisted with an incident investigation and contributed to developing and implementing recommended measures and actions
      These were within the last 3 years
      I can provide a third-party report from a manager/supervisor demonstrating my contribution to each investigation

      BSBWHS417 Assist with managing WHS implications of return to work

      Was this within the last 3 years?
      I can provide a third-party report from a manager/supervisor demonstrating my contributions to managing the implications of RTW and associated monitoring

      BSBWHS419 Contribute to implementing WHS monitoring processes

      I can provide evidence of having monitored three (3) different physical agents or conditions relating to WHS found in my workplace (For example; noise, light, air, biological or emissions)
      These were within the last 3 years
      I am familiar with monitoring devices and sampling methods for typical agents and conditions
      I can describe common physical agents and conditions and their impacts
      I can provide a third-party report from a manager/supervisor demonstrating my contribution to the monitoring of three different physical agents or conditions in the workplace

      BSBWHS431 Develop processes and procedures for controlling hazardous chemicals in the workplace

      I can provide evidence of having developed two (2) separate processes and procedures to control hazardous chemicals in your workplace
      I have referenced the Australian Dangerous Goods Act and any other relevant WHS Legislation in developing these procedures
      These were within the last 3 years
      I can provide a third-party report from a manager/supervisor demonstrating my ability to develop, implement and review hazardous chemical processes in the workplace

      BSBINS401 Analyse and present research information

      I can provide evidence of two (2) different projects that I have researched, created reports on and delivered to key stakeholders.

        (Examples of complex documents commonly encountered in the workplace might include a research report on an upcoming project (Hands Free, PPE, New Tools), an investigation report, standard work instructions, approved HRA, JHA, LUEZ plans, TMPs, RTW plans, policies related to regulatory frameworks, tender documents, HSE bridging documents, audit plans/reports, SAFEOP or any regulatory audit)

        I can provide evidence of delivering three (3) training sessions – each be at least 30 minutes duration and each covering a different work skill each time
        One session must be delivered to an individual. The second session must be delivered to a small group of at least two learners. The third can be delivered to either an individual or small group.
