Students will analyse and summarise the requirements under applicable WHS Acts, regulations, codes of practice, standards and guidance material. They will also assess the WHS legislative compliance within an organisation, and then develop or modify at least one workplace policy, procedure, process or system that support compliance.

As part of this unit students will gain the skills and knowledge required to contribute to implementing and maintaining work health and safety (WHS) consultation and participation as prescribed in legislation.
It also covers contributing to communicating relevant information, identifying feedback opportunities, and improving consultation and participation.
Students will implement WHS consultation and participation process, and undertake two consultation and mentoring activities.

Self-paced students must record and submit evidence of having undertaken this activity as part of their course. Students who elect to enrol in the 10-day online Intensive Workshop pathway will undertake their consultation and mentoring activities within class time.
As part of these two units students will learn the skills required to assist with managing the WHS implications of activities that facilitate an injured worker’s return to work. It involves identifying those with roles, duties, rights and responsibilities for return to-work, as well as assisting in preparing, implementing and evaluating the return to work. Students will also learn to contribute to implementing a plan for a work health and safety management system (WHSMS) that applies to their own role.
Students will be required to develop a WHS policy and WHSMS, create and implement a return-to-work and injury management procedure, design and deliver WHSMS training, and evaluate WHS and WHSMS performance.
Please be aware of the below interaction requirements:
- Deliver training to at least two colleagues (these may be friends, colleagues or fellow students).
- Knowledge of a current or former workplaces policies and processes.

As part of this unit students will develop the skills and knowledge required to contribute to WHS risk management, which includes the processes for identifying work health and safety (WHS) hazards and assessing and controlling the risk relating to those identified hazards.
It involves contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of risk controls according to legislative and organisational requirements.
Students will be required to undertake WHS hazard identifications, undertake WHS risk assessment and risk controls on a range of hazards, and design and implement WHS risk controls on a range of simulated and real hazards.

- Access to two adult workers to deliver training for return to work, and injury management procedures (these may be friends, colleagues or fellow students).
Self-paced students must record and submit evidence of having undertaken this activity as part of their course. Students who elect to enrol in the 10-day online Intensive Workshop pathway will deliver their return to work and injury management procedure training within class time.
As part of this unit students will learn the skills and knowledge required to assist with actions and activities performed in response to workplace incidents according to work health and safety (WHS) legislative and organisational requirements.
Students will be required to summarise all legislative requirements relating to initial incident reponse procedures, and then design and implement an initial incident response procedure. Students will also assist in a WHS investigation by collecting information, making recommendations, and assisting an investigative meeting.
Please be aware of the below interaction requirements:
- Access to one adult to role play a simulated incident investigation (these may be friends, colleagues or fellow students).
Self-paced students must record and submit evidence of having undertaken their incident investigation as part of their course. Students who elect to enrol in the 10-day online Intensive Workshop pathway will conduct their meeting within class time.
As part of this unit students will discover the skills and knowledge required to collect, organise, analyse and present information using available systems and sources. This includes identifying research requirements and sources of information, evaluating the quality and reliability of the information, and preparing and producing reports. Students will also learn to to plan, draft and finalise complex documents.
Students will develop a research plan for three research projects, and collect and analyse the research information identified followed by creating and presenting the research reports.

- Access to a Manager to present three draft research papers (these may be friends, colleagues or fellow students).
Self-paced students must record and submit evidence of having presented their three draft research papers as part of their course. Students who elect to enrol in the 10-day online Intensive Workshop pathway will deliver their research presentations within class time.
As part of this unit you will show off your new skill of influencing and informing people by designing and presenting two presentations to audiences of at least two people.

- Access to at least two individuals to deliver two different sessions (can be friends, colleagues, or fellow students)
Self-paced students must record and submit evidence of having presented their two delivery sessions as part of their course. Students who elect to enrol in the 10-day online Intensive Workshop pathway will deliver their two delivery sessions within class time.
Duration: Students undertaking training have 12 months from their enrolment date to complete their studies and submit all assessment workbooks for this course. RPL candidates have six months from their enrolment date to complete their RPL interview and submit all required evidence. (Students may extend the duration of their enrolment on a month-by-month basis – extra fees apply as detailed in our schedule of fees.) Students may complete and submit their assessment workbooks at any time during their enrolment.
Assessment turnaround: The turnaround time for assessment submissions received by Plenty Training is approximately 20 working days from the date it is received. The time frame can vary depending on the number of assessment submissions being received at any given time. Once a student has been deemed competent in all units they will be issued with their qualification within 30 calendar days.
Workload: This represents the notional duration of all activities required for the achievement of the learning outcomes. For students completing the BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety the Volume of Learning is between 600 – 1800 hours. This means a typical student will complete this course over 12 months with a minimum of 12 hours a week for the 52 weeks.
