Assessment
Discover the assessment requirements for each of the units included in the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment course. The resources provided to students will vary depending on their selected pathway. Find out how your selected pathway compares:
Gap training for this unit involves students updating their skills in the area of planning and organising assessment including contextualising and adjusting the assessment process and instruments ready to carry this out.
We ensure you understand the latest expectations and requirements for assessment tools and processes under the Standards for RTOs 2015.
You will need to plan and adjust the assessment process and tools on five different occasions, each occasion for a different and complete unit of competency.
NOTE: We provide students with some scenarios they can use for this if they do not currently plan and contextualise assessment against five different units of competency in their current role
Gap training for this unit involves students updating their validation skills by participating in at least three validation sessions where they will validate assessment tools and processes to ensure they meet the latest standards required by RTO’s.
Please be aware of the below interaction requirements for Distance+ course students:
- Organise at least one other person to participate in three validation sessions if you do not already participate in these sessions within your current role
Note: We can provide you with assessment tools and validation templates to use if you do not have your own to use for these validations.
As part of this unit students need to understand and use the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) to identify and assist with LLN challenges. Students will analyse the LLN requirements and levels for training specifications, the levels of real vocational learners, adapt and contextualise resources to suit the LLN levels of your learners and deliver the training to those real vocational learners.
Please be aware of the below interaction requirements for Distance+ course students:
- Access to two real vocational learners
- Presentations must be recorded and submitted for assessment
Students enrolled in the iClass+ course pathway will complete their presentation in class time and are not required to submit a recording.
Note: A ‘real vocational learner’ is defined as a learner undertaking training required for their employment and directly related to the specific skills needed for that employment or enrolled with an RTO.
As part of this unit students will design and develop three assessment tools, each tool must cover an entire unit of competency. Once you have developed your tools you will validate and trial these tools, making any required adjustments.
Please be aware of the below interaction requirements for Distance+ course students:
- Access to one or more individuals to hold a meeting (can be friends, colleagues or fellow students)
- Meeting must be recorded and submitted for assessment
Students enrolled in the iClass+ course pathway will complete their meeting in class time and are not required to submit a recording.
Duration: Students undertaking training have six months from their enrolment date to complete their studies and submit all assessment workbooks for this course. RPL candidates have six months from their enrolment date to complete their RPL interview and submit all required evidence. (Students may extend the duration of their enrolment on a month-by-month basis – extra fees apply as detailed in our schedule of fees.) Students may complete and submit their assessment workbooks at any time during their enrolment.
Assessment turnaround: The turnaround time for assessment submissions received by Plenty Training is approximately 20 working days from the date it is received. The time frame can vary depending on the number of assessment submissions being received at any given time.
Workload: Assessment candidates typically take between one and 12 hours to complete the credit transfer / RPL gap assessment workbooks, dependent upon the exact number of units for which full or partial RPL is required, and the nature of the gap knowledge and evidence that is required.
